II. Noteworthy Accomplishments Since the Last Report
An initial draft of a revised administrative cost
definition regulation has been prepared and is being circulated within
the appropriate DOL units for comment
A draft State Readiness Guide for WIA implementation
has been developed and is currently under review.
The Section 188 Nondiscrimination Regulations are at
the Federal Register waiting for publication.
Maria Kniesler and Dolores Beran met with Education staff on October
29th to discuss common definitions for core indicators of
performance.
The Policy Team met with ETLS attorneys to discuss issues related to
draft final regulations. The Policy Team is working with ETA
program offices to refine the draft final regulations. The team expects to have
a complete draft to Workforce Investment Policy Council for
review by November 5th.
OWS staff attended the third meeting of the Expert
Panel of the ETA Five-Year Strategic Research Plan. This
meeting was to discuss key research areas, including priority areas.
An ETA workgroup met this week to seek ways to increase the
delivery and effectiveness of reemployment services to UI claimants.
The workgroup discussed ideas to enhance the federal oversight of special WPRS
improvement grants given to 11 states; better define the relationship between
state WPRS systems and the UI Eligibility Review program; and to identify
reporting overlaps.
The design group comprised of Regional and National Office
representatives for the AJN inaugural technical assistance began discussion of
TA priorities and outcomes needed. Recommendations on the
design of this TA on WIA implementation is the intended outcome.
